Venice's access fee returns this week, rising to €10 for last-minute bookings

"For all those who are not subjects belonging to the exclusion and exemption conditions, for the year 2025, the advance booking incentive has been introduced which provides for the payment of €5.00 only for those who pay the Access Fee within the fourth last day (inclusive) before the day of access. Otherwise, for those who pay the Access Fee in the 3 days before the day of access, the amount is equal to €10.00."

Mayor Brugnaro wants your money. The City coffers are low and, unlike the Mayors of other cities, he doesn't have the opportunity to fine your car for unauthorized ZTL entry or for speeding by 3 miles above the unnecessarily low speed limit of 30 km/h (18 mph)

Many organisations offer an early bird discount for tickets bought in advance. Trenitalia is such an organisation.

Even 10 euros is still too cheap. I personally enjoy going to Venice and would be willing to pay more, even as a hotel guest. And of course, even significantly more if I were only there for one day.

When you walk through the city with your eyes open in the evening, when many day visitors have left, and you see all the garbage, you can imagine how much it costs just to clean that. I also don't want to calculate how much Venice ultimately earns from tourists. I don't care, because in my eyes, they deserve every Euro.

I never understood why they didnt charge 50euro. Its an admission fee like the admission fee to any entertainment venue.
