My wife and I will be in Venice on Feb 14, the day before we start a Rick Steves' tour. Any suggestions for a reasonably priced, romantic restaurant? Also is Valentine's Day a big deal in Italy and Venice thus meaning we should make reservations in advance? Thanks for your help!

Hi Kenn, I do not know if Valentines Day is important in Italy, but I can give you a restaurant recommendation. We went on the Venice, Florence Rome Tour in May and it was wonderful! Our tour guide recommended a nice restaurant: Rosa Rossa. It is not far from Sans Marco square and it is on a side street. It's intimate and reasonably priced. The actor, Johnny Depp, likes to eat there when he is in Venice. I recommend sitting in the back at one of the tables. It's special to eat after many of the tourists are gone and many of the locals are out. They like to eat around 9:00PM. When we ate there, we saw a nice tourist couple, who asked us recommendations from Rick's book. Other than that, it seemed to be mostly locals. It's magical to walk around Venice in the evening.
