Venice resident transportation card

My husband and I will be Venice for 10 nights. It seems like getting a resident card might be the best plan for us if we can get the card ahead of time or when we arrive at Marco Polo airport. Does anyone know if this is possible? If not, can we get a seven day pass when we arrive at the airport? Thanks in advance for your help.

Kay,
I think the resident card is for Italian residents. I am not 100% certain, but it seems that way.... You have to supply a picture, for example, and an application. The 7 day pass is €50 see this site, which is a terrific deal IMO.

I have the card which allows residents' rates because I am frequently in Venice and the benefits are clear. In order to get one - anybody can do it who has sufficient patience and tenacity - you have to apply in person at specific ACTV locations, mainly the little office off to the side of P Roma. You most definitely have to be prepared for Italian bureaucracy and it helps to be able to speak a little Italian. You MUST be patient. Mine is now good for the balance of 5 years so worth it to me. BTW - they take the photo, so make sure your makeup is done!!!

For a casual visitor, even for one week, you may be happier with the simple week pass. The passes get cheaper the longer they are and they are really easy to get and use.
