We will be in Italy the first two weeks of September and was wondering if we should make our Venice visit on the day of the Regatta (1st Sunday). Would it be too harrowing? Has anyone been?

We were there a few years ago during the Historical Regatta and we loved it. FYI, the many viewing points get packed with people at least an hour before the event starts.
