Venice Private Water Taxi Company Recommendations

Has anyone used a specific company for a private water taxi transfer from Venice Marco Polo Airport to Venice? We are flying in around 6:10PM and would rather take a private water taxi to our hotel.

I've looked through here and cant find a company that people have used or would recommend. When I do a quote, how much time should I account for after we land until we should be meeting the driver?

This would be for two people with two suitcases.

Wulls1313, this is a link that I looked at and they were cheaper. Did you book this option?

This is the official water taxi company
I’d be hesitant to book with anyone else
https://www.motoscafivenezia.com/en/our_boats.php

The Venicelink link above is misleading
It is not 50 euros for a transfer from VCE
It is actually 115 euros which is about the same as the official company

Why book with a third party reseller?

ChristineH, do they include the meet and greet in their price? Have you used them before?

No- sorry have only taken water taxi TO the airport, not FROM

VCE is very easy to navigate. There is now a moving sidewalk that takes you all the way to the boat dock where all the water taxis are.
Alilaguna dock is nearby.

You hand them your voucher and they put you on a boat.

No- doubt they offer "meet & greet" but that's not something we've ever felt was necessary.

hey hey doogie
we have used motoscafivenezia.it 4 times. it's price is total up to 10 people. when you reserve, it asks a few questions. where & when, gives your rate and then asks about people, bags, hotel address, flight arrival and number. they track it down and will be waiting at end of hall down some stairs to boat dock.
best way to get into venice, pricier than others but i added it into my budget with friends. always keep address of hotel nearby since they get you as close to hotel as possible down some canals.
the other site is a shared taxi, so it's per person and at least 2 people plus you may have to wait up to an hour to depart. there's always a catch somewhere, read the fine print.
don't know what meet and greet is but they will be there for you. enjoy and have fun, let the wind and breeze blow thru your hair and take pictures.

We used the company Christine H recommends last august and we very pleased. It was cheaper than what I had found online for our group of seven plus luggage to the airport. It was a very fun way to leave Venice. They were on time.

We arrived by train so did not use a water taxi transfer to Venice.

Doogie, check with your hotel to see if it has a water door. If so, the water taxi can take you right to the door of the hotel! Al Ponte Mocenigo, where we stayed last May, made a point of telling me ahead of time about their water door.

We didn't use a water taxi, though, so I can't help you there.

obvious suggestion is, ask your hotel. you might even get a discount, or they might have a "cousin" who can give you a lift.

We used Consorzio Motoscafi Venezia from Tronchetto parking garage as we drove in for the day. It was pretty simple - reserved and paid (by phone) week prior - I found calling was easiest and we were already in Europe.
They ask that you call on arrival - They met us within 10 minutes after we called.
We added an hour to the service to get a tour of grand canal area. We were happy with the service .

We just left Venice today. My Airbnb host set up water taxi transport from her dock to VCE it was 140 euro

We took a taxi from train station to the apartment a few days prior and it was 70 euro

Is it necessary to reserve water taxi prior to Arrival in Venice? Can you meet people at the airport and share a taxi?

Generally taxies are waiting at the airport and the standard fair into Venice is €120. I fly in next month and don’t plan to arrange a taxi in advance.

We used Consorzio Motoscafi Venezia in October and was super happy with them. Booked directly on there website. They do not meet you a baggage claim, and it took us a bit to go in the right direction from there. It is a bit of a walk from baggage claim. Just ask security as you are leaving and they will point you in the right direction. Didn’t help that our phones wouldn’t connect to the cell network when we had the global pass on, when we landed from US. So it was difficult communicating with our VRBO person when we were leaving the airport. Keep that in mind also. We also used them to take us to the train station around 5am in the morning, and no issues with an early departure

I think it's easier to book at the airport counter. The one time I booked ahead of time, the first three vaporetto ticket machines were not working, and it took longer than planned to get to the dock. Boat captain was pacing.... When I've booked at the airport desk, I already have my vaporetto ticket and checked luggage in hand, and can get to the taxi in a few minutes. Happy captains.

Sorry, Ruth I don't understand why you would need a Vaporetto ticket when vaporettos do not go to/from the airport and anyway you are going to take a private water taxi, not a water bus.

Some travelers do like to purchase vaporetto pass at airport just to have on hand on arrival
Pretty sure that’s what Ruth means

The price of the vaparetto passes are going up Sept 1. That would be a reason to purchase ahead so that you can get the current price.

Shocked to see that there are no taxi’s available in early September!

Same question
Where do you see no water taxis available?
What exact date?
Are you looking at the official site?

Dario, we'll be in Venice for five days. I like to get my vaporetto pass at the airport for convenience.

Keep in mind that the annual Venice Regatta occurs on Sunday Sept 4th, 2022.

"On the occasion of the Regata Storica, waterbus services will be modified or suspended from 2.30 p.m. to about 7.30 p.m. in order to allow the Regatta events to take place. There will be no service along the Grand Canal from 3.30 p.m. to about 7.30 p.m." https://www.regatastoricavenezia.it/en/

If you have to walk to your hotel during that time, crossing some of the bridges may take some time, as they will be full of people watching the regatta.

In order to save approximately 40 euros, I am planning to take a bus from Marco Polo airport to Piazzale Roma, then take a private water taxi from Pzzle Roma to my hotel which is very near San Zaccaria vaporetto stop. (I have taken the bus several times other trips arrivals af Marco Polo).

According to the "Motoscafi" website recommended by a previous post above, the fee from Pzzle Roma to a hotel is 65 euros.

Has anyone taken this private water taxi from Piazzale Roma to a hotel? Was it easy to find the taxi?

I don't want to take a vaporetto from Piazzale Roma to my hotel as it's a long roundabout route (not along the Grand Anal) and I am hoping that the private taxi will take the scenic route down the Grand Canal which is more direct in the case of my hotel.

Grazie!

I'm confused, Susan - San Zaccaria is served by the number 1 - which most definitely goes down the Grand Canal...

You're not thinking of Zattere in Dorsoduro are you? If so, that's easily walked from Accademia on the Grand Canal, no more than 5 minutes on a straight, flat, no bridges Rio Terra. I used to stay down by Zattere and walked it many times.

Thanks Nigel. When I used Google maps there was no mention of vaporetto 1. Now that I checked the ACTV vaporetto schedule I see that you are, of course, correct. Thanks again. Just goes to prove, once again, that one should not trust Google!
