I will be in Venice mid Oct and I will do a private gondola ride. Is a reservation recommended or can I purchase a ride after I arrive? I would prefer no reservation so I can be more flexible.
Sure. No need to prebook. You can talk to the gondolier about your route before you decide. Prices are pretty well set, so you can't negotiate that.
All rides are private: you hand € 80 to the Gondolier, you decide who gets on board.
Reserving a gondola ride is not needed and it's quite a scam: The gondolier gets only € 80, the ride is always 30 minutes long and the middle man pockets the difference. Why paying more to get nothing more?
Hello, we were just there a couple of months ago. There is no need to book ahead. You will find gondolas at many locations. Just think about the area you would like to travel on and approach a driver there. As mentioned the prices are set. I believe it is 80 for a day ride, and 100 for a sunset ride. Enjoy - it’s memorable.
Thank you for the quick responses
