Venice Port to hotel private transportation

I have a quote from Venice Water Taxi for 80 euro from the cruise port to my hotel. I'm wondering if it's worth booking in advance or leaving it to the day and how we feel about going via people mover PLUS vaporetto with our luggage. I'm not so worried about the shlepping factor -- it's more about saving time since our stay in Venice is short. Without a reservation is it just as fast to get a boat upon arrival? Will the cost be the same? We will disembark the ship on our own with our luggage ... Arrival based on cruise documentation is 7am.

Thanks!

Knowing where your hotel is would help us give you the best advice. Even so, 80 Euros is a lot to spend to save just a little bit of time. We've done this route (more than once) and when you get off the ship things go very quickly. A short walk to the people mover, a very short ride, a short walk to the vaporetto stop, and then a ride to the hotel area. Depending on the location of your hotel and the vaporetto your take it should not be more than 30 minutes from off the ship to checking in at the hotel. Do not reserve in advance!! We've cruised many times and even the expedited debarkation times are very iffy at best.

Where is your hotel? That is a big factor. If it is right by a vaporetto dock, that could actually be faster. If it is deep in the island, a water taxi can take you to their door, or very close. And of course, how much luggage do you have?

Thanks - Our Hotel offers a private water-door entrance facing the "Rio del Malpaga" canal, but is also very near the "Ca' Rezzonico" vaporetto stop.

We are hoping to have one large rolling case each and a small backpack.

The vaporetto to your stop at Ca' Rezzonico from P Roma takes 33 minutes and goes, most of the year, every 12 minutes from Dock "D" in P Roma.

You will be on before the big crowds at Ferrovia. Most of the people on the vaporetto at that time of the morning will be workers coming in from Mestre and other parts of the mainland to do their day's work.

I would still go with the people mover and the vap. Just don't think you will save enough time to justify the cost. But then, whatever floats your boat is the only thing that matters. Before deciding, go to Bing.com and click on the maps feature. Type in the name of your hotel and it will show the location. You can zoom in and out, turn right and left, and see how close the hotel is to the vap. stop. you can also use the aerial and birds eye views to get another perspective.
