Venice - Pensione Guerrato

Hello - I am booking hotels for Italy and got a response back on Pensione Guerrato which is mentioned in Rick Steves' book. I have read the good feedback on this forum and also trip advisor. They are offering us 2 double rooms on the 3rd floor with rooftop views. Based on what I read I think there are 4 total rooms on the 3rd floor - I read room 34 has an alley view.

Has anyone stayed in these rooms and have any feedback (or pictures)? Thanks!

Hi Ali, We just stayed there in May. I don't really know what floor we were on but I know it was one of the upper ones. We had their quad. Although,
we enjoyed our stay there and was very pleased with the room itself, we did have a BIG problem with where the room faced. It was over a courtyard that had a bar/restaurant right below us. This establishment stayed open quite late and attracted many young (partying) people. Even with the windows closed, we were keep up very late into the night with the noise. Just make sure you ask if the room is over this bar or not. If not, you will be very happy there.

I can second the previous comments. They are wonderful people at PG, but the noise from that one establishment can be a bit much if your windows are open. (This is definitely the exception in Venice, which is known for having surprisingly little nightlife.) However, we did stay on that floor directly overlooking that courtyard and it didn't keep us awake. We closed the windows and used the airconditioning. I thought the windows were pretty well-soundproofed. Linda, however, had a different experience which I don't want to negate. (Linda, we were there in May also. I wonder if our paths crossed?)

Also, the location of PG is excellent for access to all parts of Venice. Be sure to take the vaporetto that lets you off right by that courtyard. (Don't get off at the Rialto stop or you'll have to haul your bags over the bridge.)

We stayed here in July of 2005 and our family of 4 had a huge room on the top floor with a great modern bathroom. (there are lots of steps) I am not sure what room # we had but didn't really have the windows open too much as we were running the A/C. I remember when the window in the bathroom was open you could hear them getting set up for the Rialto Market but we had no problem with sleeping and noise. This place is in a great location and very easy to find.

In Aug. 2007 we stayed at one of Hotel Campiello's apartments. These were new in 2007 and very nice. This place is located just a few minutes from St. Mark's Square off the Riva. I am sure their hotel rooms are very nice too.

Have a great trip!

Hi Ali,

We stayed here in Septmeber of this year, and we were on the 2nd floor, and had no problems at all. We looked out just over the entrance to the hotel ( which was an alley), and noise was not a concern or a problem. We stayed in a double with a private bath. We would stay here again in a heart beat. The rooms were large, the hotel is in a great location, and the staff was very friendly.

Ali,

We stayed on the top floor overlooking the plaza and the noise was not that bad. Great ringside seat to see a slice of the real Venice. Would stay there again in a heartbeat. Contact me if you need details or specific info. TC
