I will be arriving near Venice by car from the Dolomites and taking the vaporeto to the city center. Where can I park outside rhe city on the mainland ?

The vaporetti don't go to the mainland. You would need to park at the Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto, at the base of the causeway from the mainland.

You can park in Mestre, near the station, and take the train over the causeway.
