Spending 2 nights in Venice next week. Anyone know best/cheapest place to park.

We parked at a parking lot across the street from the train station in Mestre and took the short train ride on in to Venice. Much cheaper than the bigger lots closer to Venice. The informative link Tom provided indicated that the lots in Mestre located close to the train station might be full but it would be worth a try. There were quite a few spots available when we were there but it could be different for you. Still worth the time to check it out. The ticket for the train from mestre to Venice is only a Euro or two. Very convenient too.

We drove out and chose to park in the secure parking Rick recommends near the main parking lot. If I had to do it over, I would park at a train station on the mainland and train out to the island. Parking is expensive, risky if you don't choose the secure option, and time-consuming (at least an hour to 1 1/2 hours each to park and retrieve our car).
