Planning to end our Italy trip in Venice over Easter weekend. Does everything close down? Shopping? Restaurants? We will be stranded with nothing to do?
I haven't been to Venice at Easter but my educated guess based on visiting other touristy places is that there will be plenty shops and restaurants opened. And there will be plenty of sightseeing to do, too. Easter Monday is also holiday there.
Entry to some churches on Easter Sunday may be limited because of an increased number of Masses, but other than that, most restaurants and shopping in the tourist areas of Venice (are there other areas anymore?) will be open.
One of the very best things to do in Venice on any day is a photo safari, by walking away from the main tourist paths, and also during a vaporetto ride.
I'm surprised that shops would be open in Venice on Eastern Sunday.
