Venice or Verona day trip on a Sunday

Two of us are arriving in Venice on Friday afternoon. It’s the last stop of our trip, we will have the two full weekend days and then depart Monday afternoon.

We heard that Verona is lovely. Should we spend both Saturday and Sunday in Venice or consider doing a day trip to Verona? I would prefer to stay in Venice on Saturday but that would mean Verona on Sunday and I worry that everything will be closed.

I also don’t mind leaving Verona to another trip.

Any thoughts?

I did both Verona and Venice on a trip start of 2023.

If you only 2 full days, please stay in Venice. You will sell yourself short if these are your only two days.

Venice has so much to see, and do, as well as possible day trip to Burano/Murano.

Verona can be done in one day, but not at the expense of time in Venice.

Let me know if you want a share of my walking plans for each city.

And I agree with Trent. Besides, not everyone is impressed with Verona.

@Trent that’s exactly the advice I needed, not to sacrifice one of 2 full days in Venice for Verona. We will have to return on another trip. Yes I would love to see your walking plans if you’re able to share them. Thanks so much !

I really like Verona but I agree you aren't in Venice long enough for a day trip.

Thanks BethFL. We are more interested in taking our time than rushing around to sites!

Agree with the others -- stay in Venice. Two full days will be just enough for you to want to return and stay longer. If that happens, the a day trip (or even an overnighter) to Verona will be in order.
