We've read reviews on both and obviously expense but well worth the experience. Tomorrow night we'll be on the square.... if you had to pick one which is "better" and why.
Thanks, Duane

Wander around and see which you prefer, and then choose.
One of our favorite memories is going after supper and sitting down in front of the orchestra at the Florian. We ordered presseco, coffee and dessert. The waiters were so professional! We were there for 2 hours listening to their orchestra dual with the other orchestra. It was such a beautiful evening. Expensive, but memorable.
The Florian! It’s one of those things I do every time I’m in Venice and, despite the cost, it’s worth every penny!
I'm with Nigel. Don't overplan it.
Go to both.
We've been to Cafe Florian many times and enjoyed the amenities, despite the COST.
Buon viaggio,
Thanks all! We wound up going to Café Florian.... an amazing experience.
I’m so glad you went and loved it! An incredibly special and romantic experience.
We were there almost exactly a year ago - the square was foggy, very few people, and it was amazing - what an atmosphere!
We went to both Cafe Florian and Cafe Lavena and enjoyed both. We went to Cafe Florian during the day for coffee and hot chocolate and sat outside to listen to the orchestra and enjoy the ambiance of St. Mark's Square. It was expensive but worth it for the experience. In the evening we got gelato to go at Cafe Lavena. It was the best gelato that I had in Italy!
