Venice on a Sunday?

Hi everyone,

My sister and I have decided to go on the RS tour for Venice, Florence and Rome in October. We would be coming into Venice a day or two early. What is Venice like on a Sunday. Are most stores/museums closed?

Hazel, I arrived in Venice on a Sunday in early May. I don't recall that museums were closed (but didn't go to one that day). I did go shopping, so that won't be an issue and restaurants were open. I did note some restaurants were closed on Mondays.

I was in Venice for a weekend in March of this year. On Sunday we toured the Accademia and took the Secret Itineraries tour of the Doges Palace. I don't know what else was open, but those two were.

If you look in Rick Steves's books, for most destinations he lists each day of the week and what is open and closed on that day.
