Venice neighborhood for air bnb

Hello
My family (husband, wife, kids ages 6 &14) will be in Venice July 8-10. We would like to stay in an air bnb/ vrbo but I have no idea which area to look. Has anyone rented one/ what area should we stay? Any suggestions appreciated!

Venice proper is fairly small, so your options are wide. What sights do you want to see? That matters when looking for convenient lodgings.

On a short trip like this, you might really value not facing a long slog between the train station and your lodgings--you'll be making that trip twice within three days, after all. Often there are hump-backed bridges to cross, which gets a bit annoying with luggage. The train station is in Cannaregio. It's not, generally, the fanciest area, but it can be very convenient.

It's also advantageous to be located near a vaporetto stop if you plan to take many vaporetto trips. To be sure of that you'll need to know the exact location of potential apartments, not just the sestiere (Cannaregio, Dorsoduro, San Marco, etc.). Again, bridges.

I haven't been to Venice yet, so I can't recommend neighborhoods, but you might consider looking at booking.com rather than Airbnb. I've used both for apartments for 2-7 people, but have been more satisfied with Booking.com because they give you exact location and useful descriptions of the place. Also, many times the cancellation policy is better on Booking.com. For an upcoming trip in March, just 2 of us, I found a 1BR apartment on Booking.com (free cancellation up to a week before) about 10 minute walk from the main train station (near the natural history museum, . Several reviewers described the area as residential, but within walking distance to Piazza San Marco. Hopefully is works out!
