Venice Museums

Would like to visit either the Accademia or the PG museum. Also thinking of stopping by the mask/perfume museum since that sounded fun...thoughts?

I'm leaving in a few days for another trip to Venice.

I'd never heard that Procter and Gamble had a museum in Venice. Where is it?

I go to the Accademia because I like the art that they have there. I'd say to go to places that interest you.

The Guggenheim museum is interesting not only for its collection but also because it was Guggenheim's residence. If you are not particularly interested in modern art, you may want to skip it. The reason to visit the Accademia (or any museum) is an interest in the art of the periods represented. Haven't been to the mask/perfume museum.

If you have a chance to visit all three, go for that. Otherwise choose the one(s) that interest you the most.

I too was stumped by the PG reference, wondering if there was an R and an NC-17 museum as well. I agree that the Peggy Guggenheim Museum is more for lovers of modern art. No idea about the mask/perfume museum. The Accademia is a more traditional museum, with TONS of art, esp. featuring Venice (surprise!). Have you been to the Correr Museum? It's also very impressive.

You can almost classify the Frari Church as a museum. It has some impressive art, tombs of Titian, Canova's heart, and Monteverdi. Well worth a visit and gets you away from the tourist hoardes. Also, the Scuola Rocco has great art by Tintoretto. It's near Frari Church. I liked this area of Venice.
