Venice Museum passes

I am trying to buy the Venice Museum pass that Rick has mentioned but I am getting nothing but aggravation from the veneziaunico site. Has anyone managed to buy this pass online? The site does not tell you how long the pass is good for or if there are any options for different durations. Even the list of included museums keeps changing depending where you click. Also I want to be able to get into the big churches and I understand there's a pass for that too but there's no mention of churches on that site. I am really losing my temper.

If you give us the list of museums you are interested in we can provide specific advice

Typically “passes” are not all that useful

The church pass is called the "Chorus Pass". It doesn't include the big-name churches. I've used it, but the churches are scattered, and even with long stays in Venice, I visited far less than half the churches. It's unlikely anyone not almost totally focused on seeing churches would go to enough of them to save very much money. There's never a line at the places covered by the Chorus Pass, so to my mind its only real advantage is that you don't have to keep fishing for the entry fee every time you pop into a church. I don't remember whether the Chorus Pass churches take credit cards if you walk in without a pass. The entry fee was only 3 euros as of 2022, I think.

San Marco is the only church where I've encountered a line; that's a place to book entry ahead of time if you can. However, I don't climb church towers, so I don't know whether there are church towsrs with lines.

I can't help on the museum pass; it hasn't made sense for me.

I used the Venezia Unica pass extensively on my last visit. It included 14 churches of the Chorus circuit plus the Doges palace, Corer museum and many other museums. I bought the pass when I got to Venice at the tourist info place at St. Marks square, near the Corer Museum. I mapped my walking route each day according to what the pass gave me free admission to. I was there for a week, so managed to cover quite a lot of it. With this pass you can also get discounts on other things, but I was so busy I don’t think I made use of that feature.

Well grrr. I'm just as confused. I spent an hour on the veneziaunica site before I made this post and never found the chorus pass info that was kindly posted above. I still don't know how long the pass is good for or how many times you can get in to each location and there's no mention of skip the line benefits or how you'd take advantage of skipping the line. When I click the links for more info, I have been taken to three other completely different websites: vivaticket, muve.it and chorusvenezi.org
Are there options for two days, three days, one week etc? The Italians really make crappy websites.

The VeneziaUnica site makes things more complicated than they need to be. Muve is the site for the museums (Doge's Palace, Correr, Lace, Glass, and a handful of others) and they use Vivaticket to deliver their tickets.

There are no lines to skip at the Chorus Pass churches. You may find yourself the only visitor in any of those churches.

I suspect the CP is valid for a year but don't know for sure. I used it on a 10-night trip to Venice and gave no thought to an expiration date. I believe they mark off each church as you visit it, so you're limited to a single entry.

I think recent changes have removed the Chorus Pass entirely so I suspect that's why you're not able to find it. Apparently, the 20 churches in the Chorus Circuit will now be free to enter (with a few exceptions), according to this article in Italian.

I completely agree with you — using the Venezia Unica website is far from user-friendly. They used to offer the city pass on platforms like GetYourGuide and Tiqets, which made purchasing it a breeze, but unfortunately that’s no longer the case.

But the conditions stay the same: the VeneziaUnica city pass is valid for 6 months, starting from the purchase date. The big churches are not included, but the good part is that they're not expensive at all. The biggest entry price (10 euro) is at St. Mark's - make sure you book your slot in advance, tickets cannot be purchased on site anymore. This is the official website.

In my opinion, the MUVE Museum Pass is great value at €40 — especially if you plan to visit the Doge’s Palace (which costs €30 on its own) plus at least two other civic museums. Venice’s civic museums cover a wide range of topics — from stepping back into 18th-century Venetian life at Ca' Rezzonico and Palazzo Mocenigo, to exploring the creative genius of Mariano Fortuny at his former residence, Palazzo Fortuny, and discovering modern and oriental art at Ca' Pesaro.

MUVE’s official website offers detailed information about each museum, but you’ll find a more concise, mobile-friendly overview here.

Abus00, are you saying that I buy the pass and THEN I still have to book my entry slot in advance? I didn't see any link provided to that...

abus00 has provided the link to St Mark's above

You would book your entry slot on their website- not the Venice pass site. And yes- everyone must have a pre booked slot.
( is St Mark’s even included in the pass?)

St Mark's and Doges Palace are likely the only sites that you will need a prebooked slot. There is no such thing as skip the line- pass or not- everyone goes thru security.
Be sure to read the guidelines for St. Mark's- what size purse/pack is allowed, all must have shoulders and knees covered- both men and women- they are very very strict. This goes for all churches.

Ingrid, if you have a MUVE Museum Pass or Venezia Unica Pass, you won't need to book a timeslot for the Doge's Palace – just show up. The only caveat is that entry with these passes is permitted after 12:00 PM (noon).

Be aware that St. Mark's Basilica, however, is not covered by any pass and still requires you to book a separate timeslot.

It can definitely be confusing, so hope this clarifies things.
