Hi, I'm a middle schooler that is in charge of planning the Venice section (12/25 and 26 ??) of our family trip. I know the glassblowing museum is closed on Wednesdays, but does that mean that the glass blowing places don't blow glass? or can we visit the glass blowers even though the museum is closed? Also, do they blow glass during Christmas week?
I'm not sure about Christmas week but you can add Sundays to the list of when glassblowing does not occur. We visited Murano on a Sunday and all the shops were open but there was no glassblowing.
December 26th St. Stephen’s Day (Santo Stefano) is a National holiday in Italy (and most of Europe) There will not be much open...but...perhaps a tourist attraction may be if there is a demand for it ;-)
We were in Murano on a wed last month and the museum was closed. However the glassblowing took place but in the morning only.We arrived after noon and they had completed it for the day.
Don't expect much open in Italy on the 26th. It is St. Stephens day and it is a holiday as important as Christmas day. Murano will probably be closed. Sorry!!
HI Seth
I am going on a escorted tour that will be in Venice on December 25. We are scheduled to go to a Murano Glass Factory for a demonstration (and I am SURE the store will be open for a tour bus!). It might take checking with your hotel's front desk (send them an email) and asking where they recommend to visit.
Have a great time! I've got an 8th grader so I'm impressed to know you are researching.
Cheers
Kim
