Venice Marco Polo Airport-convenient ways to get there Train-Bus or rental car

Whats the best way to get to the airport if we stay in Vicenza or Verona?
Does Venice have better access via ferry?
Is there another city to stay that has better access to the Airport?
is 2 hours advance enough time for outbound flights?
We are leaving mid week in May I understand cruise ships cause more traffic on weekends
Thanks

Take a train to Venezia Mestre station, then the Aerobus to the airport. Exiting the station, turn right and walk about 200 meters.

Nonstop to Philadelphia pa if that makes a difference
Ok so how long from Mestre station on aerobus to airport?

Mon-Sat the Aerobus goes every 30 minutes from Mestre station, on the hour and half hour. 23 minute ride to the airport. On Sunday, it is every hour at 6 past the hour. Cost is 8 EUR, so if it there are 3 or more of you, a taxi may be in order.

So it sounds like it’s better to end my trip with some nights in Venice and take ferry to the airport

Otherwise Mestre station via train and then cab or bus from there?

Thanks

Some pre planning is a must I will need to be at airport at by 10 am for a 11:55 am flight

Thanks

Are you sure 10 AM is early enough? I know Venice's airport isn't one of the really large ones, but the usual recommendation is to be at the airport 3 hours before a transatlantic flight. That's why I asked where you were going. But Venice may be different. Your airline's website probably has the information you need.

Good point on 3 hours
How long is the ferry ride from stops in Venice?
Train to bus leaves lots to happen in the morning.

I like one mode of transport to airport
Thanks

If you want to stay in Venice the night before, you can get a hotel walking distance from Piazzale Roma, where the No 5 bus goes to the airport every 15 minutes Mon-Sat, every 20 minutes Sundays and holidays. Again, costs 8 EUR, and takes 23 minutes.

How would you plan 14 nights sam?
Would you plan to stay in Venice for easier airport access?

I am planning
5 or 6 nights Lugano/ Lame Como
Then
Train to Verona or Parma 3 nights
Then
Train to Ferrara 3 nights
Then
Train to Venice 3 nights

But I would rather spend more time in fewer cities.

Thanks

I really like Venice, but another option is Padua. There are hourly buses from Padua train station to Venice airport, that take about 1 hour. Otherwise, looks like a pretty good plan. Assume you fly into Milan.

Vicenza worked well for us on our last night before flying out of Marco Polo but we had a rental car.

I was in Venice this past week and took the same flight home (VCE to PHL) that you are taking. We were staying in the Dorsodoro neighborhood. We took a vaporetto from the Zattere dock to Piazzale Roma (about a 12 minute ride). We then took the ATVO express bus to Marco Polo Airport (about 20 minutes). The ATVO bus runs every 30 minutes. Total time from our hotel (a 5 minute walk from Zattere dock) to the airport was about 45 minutes. The bus left about 2 minutes after we arrived at Piazzale Roma. If we had missed it, add another 30 minutes to the travel time. The trip was very easy at 0800 on a Thursday morning.

VCE has a separate security checkpoint for flights to the US. This did not open until about 0915. I believe the PHL flight at 1210 was the first one of the day going to the US. The US security line was not at all crowded at that point on a Thursday morning.

Each airline has its own policy on how long before departure you should be at the airport.

However considering that VCE is not a huge airport (same passengers traffic as Pittsburgh, PA) and that security procedures are not as crazy as with TSA in the US (you can keep your shoes on, always), I think that being there 2 hours ahead of departure is sufficient for your flight.

Another option is a private water taxi. About a week ago we used one for a ride to the airport and the cost for 2 people was 120 euros.

We just returned from Venice on Tuesday and had a very similar experience to rd above: Vaporetto to Piazzale Roma, ATVO bus to Marco Polo Airport. We boarded a vaporetto at the Ca d' Oro stop at about 8:50 am with a goal of reaching the airport by 10 am for a 12:10 pm flight. The ATVO bus was half full and we got to the airport maybe 15-20 minutes before 10. The USA security line was short and quick. Wish it was always that easy...

I have only left from central Venice and typically take a taxi. Not the cheapest option but gets me there quickly. I always fly nonstop from VCE to PHL and arrive at least 2 hours early. Just a word of caution: check your flight status before leaving the hotel. Almost 50% of the time, our flight has been delayed, delayed, then cancelled. This will likely NOT happen to you but it happens often enough to us to give me pause. We love Venice so I don't mind being stuck there but I sure don't want to be stuck in a hotel by the airport. Stay somewhere amazing and just double check your flight before you head out.

I second the water taxi idea. It is a bit more expensive than the others, but they will pick you up at your hotel IF you are near the Grand Canal or one of the larger waterways. The ride across the lagoon is pretty exciting too.

For us, leaving from Venice (as distinct from other towns), it is walk or vaporetto to Piazle Roma, and then the ATVO bus to Marco Polo. You can buy ATVO tickets from the ATVO office in P. Roma or from the news vendors there. Costs 8 euro.
