Venice Marco Polo or Treviso airport?

Hello, me and a friend are going by plane from Barcelona to Venice in mid September. Looks like we can save $70 a ticket if flying by Ryanair. Is this worthwhile, or is the extra time/expense going from Treviso airport to Venice not worth it as opposed to Marco Polo to Venice? Thanks for the help.

Maybe one extra hour or less compared to VCE. IF you take the shuttle bus the extra cost is not significant. If you take a taxi from TSF to piazzale Roma in Venice, your savings will vanish. It's up to you.

For 70 bucks I would do Marco Polo but that's just me. I'm not a fan of Ryan Air (or the Treviso Airport).

Is that $70 after you have paid RyanAir for all their extra charges and fees? They are notorious (and proud of it) for all their extra fees which really boost up the final cost. Cue Harold and his link to the (rude) Ryanair song.

or, while waiting for Harold to wake up, I will blatantly plagiarize him: For a very funny song about what to expect with Ryanair, check out this link to Fascinating Aida's warning about the perils of Cheap Flights (warning: contains profanity)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAg0lUYHHFc It is well worth a look, but not in the office or when kids are about.

Nigel, it's not plagiarism when you credit your source. Thanks for the plug! Marc, have you looked at http://www.skyscanner.com/ to check all your options? Once you have, do a dummy booking on each option to see the real cost. And if a "legacy" carrier like Iberia or Alitalia flies this route, consider booking a round trip and throwing away the second half. While the budget airlines don't have a discount for round trips, the legacies do (or, put another way, they have a high premium for one-way travel). But don't throw away the first half of a round trip ticket, or they'll cancel the second half. Marc, also be sure that Ryanair flies out of Barcelona (BCN) instead of Girona (GRO). I loved Girona, but it's 90 minutes from Barcelona, so that adds yet more hassle and time on that end (in addition to the time/hassle you know about on the Venice end).

Thanks for the advice everyone. Just to clarify the $70 savings per flight was after 1 checked bag each, and other fees. There was cheaper flights elsewhere that were much later in the day, 7:30pm, instead of 11:00am, and that was 1 requirement we didn't want an evening arrival as we're only spending 2 nights there. Even with the extra 45 minutes or so we figure to travel via bus it seemed to be worth it so we went with Ryanair.
