We, two couples, (4 people) are scheduled to arrive in Marco Polo Airport at 7:00 pm on a Sunday in Mid May. What are the options for a transfer to Ple. Roma where we take a Vaporetto to Zattere? Is taking the nonstop bus an easy to do option? What company provides this service? Hopefully, the airport immigration lines will not be very lengthy. What would be a reasonable time to reach our lodging? I would like to inform the lodging personnel. The transfer options are probably limited on a Sunday night in May? Any ideas are most welcomed from recent travelers. Thank you in advance if you have suggestions for this group of four people
While you wait for more detailed answers, here are the transport options from the Venice airport:
hey hey Mal
another option is to use a private water taxi from airport direct to where you are staying, ours dropped us on canal a block from hotel that vaporetto didn't get to.

you can do a "dummy" reservation to see cost then divide by 2 or 4. for us it was the best way and fastest, very worth the cost. no need getting on a crowded vaporetto with luggage, pulling/pushing bags over cobblestones/uneven pavement, up & down steps/stairs/bridges. we saved money elsewhere to pay for this.
it's your decision, add up the cost for "airport to piazzale roma on bus or taxi, getting on vaporetto to zattere X 4" to compare the cost
enjoy your holiday, no stressing have fun in venice getting lost. been 4 times and loved it.
aloha
If you do not take a private water taxi, then consider the following:
From the airport, take the ATV bus # 5 (or a regular land taxi) to Piazzale Roma, and then the vaporetto to your stop. The hotel web site may have some detailed instructions about the walk from the stop to the hotel.
You can get a vaporetto pass at the airport for the number of days you'll be there and can also add a one or two way bus ticket. I think you can still do it on line from home, print out a voucher, and turn the voucher in for the pass at the airport. Just make sure to validate the pass every time you take it or the bus to P. Roma.
We've done the above a number of times. Easy-peasy! Have a good trip.
We did as described by TC last March but we just bought our tickets at the machines in the airport. We arrived around 5pm on a Tuesday (March 11). There was no line and at least a few machines available. We bought a 48 hour vaporetto pass with one way bus ticket. It's pretty straight forward, just take your time and read the options for the different tickets and passes. There was also a booth, I think you could buy the tickets directly from someone. Then we went out the nearby doors and the bus was waiting on the curb. It took about 35 minutes to get to Ple Roma. Our hotel was walking distance from the Ple Roma, so we didn't get on a vaporetto that night but the vaporetto stops are nearby and well marked.
In 2023 I bought a multiday vaporetto pass online before arriving and used the voucher to print the tickets, but back then there was a discount for doing that, I believe that discount has been discontinued that's why we decided this time just to wait and buy at the airport.
Have you asked your lodging host for their advice on best way to reach them? That's a good place to start
Another option is the Alilaguna boats- not sure how late they run

Getting to Venice from Marco Polo Airport. [Make sure you have seats on the right/starboard side of the aircraft, for a view of Venice as you fly into Marco Polo.] A paper map of Venice is the best three euro you will ever spend. Sure, people say that getting lost in Venice is fun. Getting lost, hauling your luggage and not being able to find your hotel is nobody’s idea of fun. Buy that map at the Tabac or bookshop at Marco Polo. Do take a look at your hotel website – there may be info there. Otherwise, Water taxi will get you close, maybe to, the door of your hotel. Can carry about ten people, will cost about €140 for the boat. No need to book, taxis are waiting at the Marco Polo dock. Shared water taxi. Minimum of two people. Book in advance, wait at the desk in the terminal for the others sharing the taxi. Costs about €30 per person. Google “shared water taxi Venice”, use the venicelink dot com web site. Will get you to a vaporetto stop near your hotel. Alilaguna ferry, as per below. Bus to Piazale Roma, then walk to your hotel, or take vaporetto to the nearest stop. Buses leave from the outside the terminal, tickets at the machine.
Water transport in Venice. Gondolas. Only for pleasure, not for transport. 90 euro for half an hour for the boat, more for evenings. Traghetto – big gondolas, two oarsmen, about ten passengers, for crossing the Grand Canal. Found at Rialto, San Toma and a couple of other places. Cost 2 euro per trip, can save a heap of walking. Water taxis, which are like a floating limo, costs to match. Vaporettos - ACTV. Are like a floating bus, operate on a bunch of routes. Get the app Chebateo for routes and schedules. Vaps do not service the airport. Vaps are not water taxis. Alilaguna ferries, service the airport, run from Marco Polo via a bunch of stops to the main part of Venice, Murano and Lido. They stop at some, but by no means all, vaporetto stops.
Another reminder to always validate your vaporetto pass- each and every time. Fines are high and they do check.
Make sure you have seats on the right/starboard side of the aircraft, for a view of Venice as you fly into Marco Polo.]
Sit on the other side of the aircraft and you'll swear you are landing at Newark.
We were just there. It is easy to take a bus from the airport to the bus terminal that is located at the opening of Venice. The Vaparetto ticket office is right there. It is a yellow building. We found the ticket agents very helpful as well as locals who ride the boats everyday.
To get to Zattere will probably take an hour from Pie. If the express 2 is running at that time it may be a little quicker. We had to take the 1 on a Sunday to our hotel located at Zattere. You may just have to take the 1 and enjoy the Grand Canal as a bonus trip.
We enjoyed the Vaparettos and found them very easy to use. We had a 2 day pass and went everywhere. Rick's Guidebook on Venice was a huge help in knowing basics and highlighted places to see along the Grand Canal.
Ignoring water taxis here are basically two ways to get to Zattere from the airport.
1) Alilaguna: Take the Blue Line from the airport directly to Zattere. This is one ride all the way from the airport but it will take 1:20-1:30 on the boat from the airport because the route is round about.
The schedule and map are here: https://www.alilaguna.it/en/linee/blue-line
It runs until about midnight. Tickets will be 18e a person for this ride.
2) Vaporretto: Take either a bus or taxi - with 4 people a taxi is as cheap as the bus - to Piazzale Roma. From there buy a vaporetto ticket or pass for a longer period. Go to vaporetto stop Piazzale Roma B. It is an odd stop all over by itself - just trust and keep walking - but this will allow you to catch the 5.1 line. On the 5.1 line Zattere B is only two stops from Piazzale Roma and will take about 11 minutes. The Zattere B stop is right next to the Zattere stop. (There are 3 total.)
Schedule and map are here: https://www.visit-venice-italy.com/water-bus-venice-line-51.html
The Line 6 will also work for you and also leaves from Piazzale Roma B and is about as fast.
https://www.visit-venice-italy.com/water-bus-venice-line-6.html
Note the the 5.2 line is the same stops but runs in the opposite direction so it will take you forever to get to Zattere from PR but will be useful coming from the popular tourist spots.
Route 2 also stops there but Line 2 is complicated and I won't pretend to understand it.
Always beep your ticket or pass as you enter the vaporretto dock.
Hope that helps.
Enjoy Venice - it is a unique place in the world -

another way takes advantage of the fact that the bit of Dorsoduro around Zattere is quite narrow.
Take a boat from P Roma down the Grand Canal to Accademia, right next to the bridge and museum of the same name. Head a few feet past the flavoured ice seller towards the bridge and turn right around the Accademia Museum you with the bridge behind you. You are on a wide filled in canal (Rio Terá Foscarini) which is level - no bridges - and arrow straight and in about 5 minutes walk you will be at Zattere and the water.
A lovely part of town, one of my favs, and if you share where your lodgings are or the name we may be able to get you to the door.
I've stayed a couple of times at the convent right next to the church next to the vaporetto stop.

7pm in Venice or even 8 or so is not late ...
