What is the best way to get from the San Basilio Port in Venice to San Marco Plaza and what should be the fare?

People mover to Piazzale Roma then Vaporetto (water bus) to Piazza San Marco.
I don't know the cost of the people mover, probably just a couple of euros. The vaporetto costs 7 euro per ride (flat fee) but there are all day passes or multiple day passes which are a good deal if you stay in Venice for a whole day and plan to take the vaporetto a few times.

Also recommend the pass, which is for hours rather than days, so it doesn't expire at midnight. I get the 72-hour pass before I step onto the vaporetto (you need to scan or tap it every time you use it, as you would a single ticket). Pays for itself for me by the end of the second day, sooner if I visit Torcello.
