Venice in one busy day, plus

Trying to do a version of the RS Venice book's Venice in one busy day, though we do have two nights Our skip the line doges tickets mess the order up a tad....does this work. I plan to buy the 48 hour vaporetto tickets - unless that doesn't make sense? I missed out on the timed tickets for T Fondaco view, but I will keep checking back.

We arrive via train Monday at 3pm. Hotel is near Rialto Bridge.

-Take vaporretto, drop bags and wander the San Zaccaria /San marco walk/dinner
-take vaporetto back to hotel from san marco stop to Rialto stop
-Any recommendations for casual/reasonable dinner in this vicinity

Tuesday

-Doges Palace 9am
-Lunch (recommendations welcome)
-Rialto to Frari Church walk (stop at Acqua Alta bookstore on the way?)
-Maybe, Vaporretto san tomo to accademia, walk to la salute for the view, weather permtting (worth it?)

We are not at all adverse to walking but trying to not over schedule. Anything we can add into this (but not the guggenheim)?

Wednesday morning
10am train

Thank you in advance!

The Frari church is worth a quick look inside.  The walk to della Salute is worth it.  Take the vaporetto to San Giorgio Maggiore and go up the tower for a great view. I think there's an elevator but not 100% sure. I would also add going inside St. Marks (including the upstairs) and going up the Campanile. I think there's an elevator but not sure.

Thank you...
My Doges skip the line includes a quick trip into saint marks, but definitely not the second floor. I'm torn -- trying to not schedule us into too many "locked" times but also fear if we wing we will miss some highlights. We will be there the Tuesday after Easter which I imagine will be crowded in the popular attractions Though I guess they're always crowded....

I think this is a reasonable day, and honestly, with just one day you are going to miss things as there is just too much to see in Venice, but walking this route will give you a good look at the city. As Marco suggested, take the vaporetto across to San Giorgio and take the elevator up the tower (7 or 8 euros) for a great view. The Frari church is worth a look inside and only costs a couple euros. You will pass many churches as you walk that will also charge a couple euros to go in. Just stick your head in the door and decide if you want a closer look at anything. Some of the best art is in the churches. The vaporetto pass is worth it even though Venice is very walkable because some of the best views are from the water. Also, riding down the grand canal after dark can be magical.

It seems like a good use of the very limited time you have. The vaporetto pass will give you flexibility and a chance to rest your feet, as well as great canal views. I thought the Frari Church was well worthwhile, and the walk there takes you through a lot of interesting territory. There is an elevator at the San Giorgio tower, and it's much less crowded than the Campanile, but it will take awhile to get there. If you go to the tower, certainly pay a visit to the church it's part of, including the Palladian facade.

The interior of San Marco is well worth seeing, unique in western Europe. Upstairs is interesting and the balcony view of the piazza is great, but you may not have time for that.
