Venice in October - Zattere area

We are going to be in Venice in October 2017 - we are looking at a cute place in Zattere area - is that a good area and is it close to sites of interest. The place is cute and on the water - view of the guidecca canal included.....sounds lovely. Looking for thoughts, etc.

"...close to sites of interest". Venice really isn't that big so you are always "close" to whatever. The only exception would be staying on Guidecca Island itself. If you like the looks of the place and the price is right, then I can't think of a reason not to stay there.

That sounds like a great location - you'd be close to the Accademia Bridge and Museum, the Squero di San Trovaso, where gondolas are built and repaired, the della Salute church, the Peggy Guggenheim Museum, etc.

Agreed. Although I haven't stayed right near Zattere, I've walked through it several times in the course of normal sightseeing.

I love that area. There are a couple bonuses too. If you're on a budget, you can find cheap eats for lunch and dinner in the Dorsoduro because it's where the students live. One of the best gelaterias is very near the Zattere vaporetto stop - Nico (great hot chocolate too). Near the next vaporetto stop, San Basilio, is the Conad supermarket - open 7 days a week.

Take the vaporetto from Zattere to San Marco, for a great view of the piazza and the Doge's palace from the water.

I could think of no better way to end your day in Venice than a walk along the Zattere waterfront back to your accommodation.
