We are traveling to Venice from July 17 to July 21. Is it ok to stay in a hotel without the air conditioning? Since, we will be out most of the day, I am not sure how hot and humid will it be during the night when we return to the hotel.
I would suggest AC.
there are two problems with no AC.
the heat and humidity. In theory, there should be a breeze coming off the lagoon, but things are so crammed in and maze like in many parts of Venice that the breeze can be blocked.
There are mosquitoes and there are no screens on the windows most of the time. If you have to keep the windows open, the bugs can get you.
Ditto what Ron said, AC all the way. I was i Venice in July a few years ago and it was hot, and the AC was needed.
Hey, even if it does cool off outside, it wont in your room as you probably won't have cross ventilation, even if the mosquitoes don't bother you.
I was in Venice last june and it was 90 degrees. When you return to your room without air you wont be able to sleep and it didnt cool down at night.
Definately you will need AC.
