Venice in February - suggestions?

I will be in Venice for 4-5 days in February 2018, staying in the Dorsoduro neighborhood just across the canal from The San Marco neighborhood. I will be coming in via train from Varenna. I know it will be cold - but I don't mind! I have been a few times before, not in a while and never that time of year. I would be grateful for any suggestions for restaurants, winter-worthy activities, cicchetti, etc. I would love a cooking class if anyone knows of one that specializes in the style of the Veneto! I think I will arrive just after Carnivale, so things might be settling down there.

Thank you for any recommendations and advice!

If you want a veggie-focused alternative to the usual seafood, La Zucca is very good.

I love the Dorsoduro. Margaret DuChamp in Campo Santa Margherita has great pizza. I would have liked to return and try more of their food but my time in Venice was too short. I took this tour (the morning one) and loved it. The guide was terrific and I learned a ton about the history of the city, really interesting tidbits that helped me understand more about one of my very favorite places. If I'd had more time, I would have taken the afternoon tour too. You have to book in advance, but there's no penalty for not showing up.

Taverna da Boffo in San Polo - depending on how close to the canal you are, it's about a 20-25 minute walk. We've eaten there a few times - some of the most memorable meals we've had!

We went for a week in Feb about 5 years ago, and it was brilliant. Yes it was cool, but some days we were able to sit out side for coffee and we got an Aqua Alta, which I really wanted to see! We spent our days walking the back streets, finding little places for cicchetti. Most of the museums were open. Best of all the crowds were alot smaller and there were no cruise boats. Burrano was also a lot less crowded, very beautiful. I would definitely do it again. Have a brilliant trip.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions, they are so wonderful. I’ve booked an apartment, bought rain boots :) Can’t wait!
