Venice in August . . . How bad?

Hi,
We need to use some airline miles by early September. How uncomfortable does Venice get in late August? We might be able to delay it until early September if it makes a serious difference. Also, anyone been to the Regatta? It's on September 1 this year. Thanks! Bill

If you go to "Tours > Italy > Venice, Florence,.... " you will see a heading for "Tour Weather" in the lower right hand corner. Click on that and it will show you the average temperatures for Venice for the entire year. But, times and climates are changing. We arrived in Frankfurt last month (June 15) for 4 night stay and it was 95F the whole time. Then we traveled on to Zagreb for 3 nights where it was 98F the whole time!! That is TOO hot for this Hawaiian resident.

I have been there in the summer before and it was hot and crowded. Unpleasant at times but it was still Venice, but I would think there might be fewer tourists in Sept. even though it could still be hot. I would opt for Sept.

The Regatta is very popular, be prepared for lots of crowds, higher prices, and at this point your accommodations choices may be getting scarce.

I was in Venice a couple of years ago on September 16 and it was still hot and crowded. Very unpleasant. If your miles are about to expire and they are airline miles, you can sometimes delay the expiration date by making a small online transaction with one of the airline partners..this may include a florist, Macy's, Nordstrom, etc. this depends on the individual card so
check and see if you can delay until October.
