Venice in April

My wife and I are planning our first trip to Italy. It will probably be April of next year. I can see the weather history on weather underground for Venice, but want a more "personal experience" weather account from the experienced people on this forum. Thanks in advance.

My parents were in Italy this year, 4 days in early April. They had no rain, crisp mornings, sunny days. Wonderful.

I was there very late March this year and the weather was shocking. Previously I have been there in winter and the weather was cold but sunny. If you go in April there is a reasonable chance of some rain - it rains about 10 days in April, on average.

Weather happens. It differs from year to year.

We went to Sevilla May 12th this year for a week, thinking that we will have warm but comfortable weather. Not! Mid-100 degrees for three days; hi-90s for the rest. We were told that it was unusual in May; that it was July weather. The week after, the weather was down to the 80s.

Enjoy Venice!

In what way was the weather shocking??

We spent 5 days in Venice in mid-April some years ago and had warm sunny days all but one, which started out cloudy/drizzly but then cleared up.

The nice thing is that it is not too hot and not yet terribly crowded. Now we tend to go in October as that fits our travel schedule better, but I would happily return in April. (And I would be prepared for some rain).

We were in Venice in late April this year, the 23rd to the 26th. It was a it overcast with a few sprinkles in the beginning which didn't interfere with any activities, but fine after that. We usually carried a light windbreaker for when it was cool. Generally good weather for lots of walking.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Being from Texas, wasn't sure if going to Venice at this time would be as enjoyable for us. I think we are convinced to go and appreciate your time to respond.
