Venice in 2.5 days with a 10 yr old

I'm traveling to Venice in June with my inquisitive 10 yr. old daughter. When I traveled there years ago I got daily passes for the boats and just hopped on and off but never took an actual tour. We will have been toured-out in Rome before arriving but I do want to learn about Venice and experience the highlights without overloading on more group tours. My daughter does fine on adult tours in general as long as she can ask questions :-)

Friends have particularly recommended the Doge's palace (Does this include the quarters of Princess Sissi?) and I know I want to take her to Murano for glass-blowing.

Are there particular tours that you'd recommend?
Or apps with audio guides?

Any favorite kid-friendly places for relaxing and cooling off?
Normally we'd go to a park or cool off in the pool.

Thanks for your help!

The general admission to the Doge's Palace doesn't include a tour guide so she won't be able to ask questions. If you take the Secret Itineraries Tour then you WILL have a guide and your daughter can indeed ask questions.

We take groups of kids every year to Venice, and they always have a blast down at the tip of the island in St. Elena. THere are playgrounds and lots of other kids as well as a pizzeria where you can either sit at their tables and be served or you can order take away and carry to the picnic tables in St. Elena park (lots of trees and grass and playgrounds). Our kids usually sit on the sea wall to eat their pizza.

You can still buy the vaporetto pass or you can just walk which is what we always do. Have only been to Venice once many years ago when it was hot enough in June to want to cool off in a pool.

Rick has a some free audio guide topics at https://www.ricksteves.com/watch-read-listen/audio/audio-tours/italy as well as downloading his Audio Europe app gives you access to more radio interviews that might be interesting. Although Rick's Italy guidebook has enough sightseeing info for most trips, the separate, full-sized city guides to Rome and Venice have more museum and walking-tour details.

I would get the vaporetto pass, as I love the freedom to hop on and off them, a pass also covers you to the islands, and you can get a nice breeze on a moving boat.

I associate Princess Sissi with Vienna, rather than Venice.

Thank you for your thoughtful tips. I've got the RS city guides and I'll download the audio app.
The rowing idea is really original!

Thank you!
Now I feel even more excited about our trip! I'm exploring the RS Venice guide book and guides on the app. I love these other ideas, too.
