Venice: How to get from San Giuliano car park to the island

We're spending three nights in Venice in July, arriving by car. The cost of parking on the island itself is prohibitive but there is much cheaper parking on the mainland, right by the bridge leading to the island.

Our AirBnB is about 9mins on foot from the train station on the island - that's doable with our wheelie cases.

How do we get from the car park to the island station? Ideally, I'd like to do it in one hop.

Anybody else done this?

If the transit looks too complicated or expensive (i.e. water taxi), coming after a longish drive, we might bite the bullet and park on the island.

Google Maps tells us that bus N2 goes directly from the San Giuliano park to Venice Santa Lucia in 15 minutes.

I tried Google Maps and it took me on an epic, two-train journey into the middle of 'mainland Venice' and back out again. Maybe I did something wrong.

Thanks for the tip - I'll give it another go!

Thanks Gerri, but the Tronchetto parking is on the island and, strangely, seems to be harder to get to from our digs than the mainland parking. The other thing I like about the mainland parking is that I avoid the traffic jams which apparently occur in high season, going over the bridge. I read that it can take an hour to get across!

Thanks again Gerri. Very helpful. One thing I've learned is that the bus stop is a kilometre from the car park. That's a long way for us to drag our luggage. It's starting to look like we're going to have to pay for parking on the island.
