Venice Housing

Has anyone recently stayed at the Pensione Gueratto in Venice. I remember from Rick's first tour advertisement video that this is one of the hotels he booked his tours into. I am going there in September and thought I might stay there if it was available, but noticed in my new Italy 2015 guide book that this hotel is no longer recommended. The location seemed great, but I'm wondering what happened to the RS relationship with them. Thanks.

I am soon to be 70 year old man traveling alone and this is my first visit to Venice where I will be staying for three nights. If there is a problem with Pensione Gueratto I would appreciate any recommendations of well located, reasonable priced hotels and/or B&Bs.

For what it's worth, Pensione Gueratto is listed in Rick's Venice book with a publication date of September 2014. There's also a number of other places giving it positive recommendations, like Tripadvisor and Reid's Italy. (I've got reservations there in August.)

This is how rumors start. Look at page 94 in the Italy 2015 book. There's Pensione Guerrato. Perhaps you have the Kindle version and searched for the misspelled word "Gueratto"?

I don't know about that hotel but we stayed at Hotel alla Fava recently (canal view room 108) and loved it. Its located on a small canal near Rialto Bridge, about 10 minutes walk to San Marco square.

It is still one of our favorite listings for a traditional pensione.

Jim -
While on tour in late April we stayed in Pensione Guerrato (sp?). for four nights. We were pleased with the room and the staff is always available to give you some advise on touring around town and directions to specific sites. Enjoyed the breakfast.
One thing to remember...you will climb a full flight of stairs to the lobby and at least one more to the rooms above.
Enjoy Venice.

Have stayed there multiple times and will do so again.
