Venice hotels on a canal

Hello,

We are planning a trip to Italy next June. We will be in Venice for 2 nights. We are looking for recommendations for a 4 star hotel on a canal. Our budget is $300-$400 per night. There are a few that caught our eye and would love to hear what others thought. The ones we are looking at are...Pensione Accadamia, Ai Reali de venezia, Al Ponte Antico and Aqua Palace. Tia for your input!

Keep in mind that the star rating in Italy (as well as nearly all of Europe) refers to amenities rather than overall "poshness". You need to really check the web site for potential candidates to gauge whether the accommodations meet your expectations. While we typically rent apartments in Venice we do dine out daily. The Alle Corone at Ai Reali is a great restaurant and the hotel looks very nice. Also note that in many hotels located adjacent to a canal that all rooms do not have a canal view. Also, check with the hotel to see if they offer a recommended water taxi to their hotel. Navigating from the train or vaporetto station to the hotel can be a challenge if you are not familiar with the city. Just my opinions.
