We just stayed last week at the Hotel Campiello, Castello 4647 (Campiello del Vin), on Rick Steves' list.. Nice breakfast. Nice room that even had a small balcony. At the San Zaccaria (spelling might not be correct) vaporetto stop: 1 block in and very quiet. 180 Euros/night for a classic double room.

Ameneties? Price? Time of year? Have you explored those listed in detail in the Venice Guidebook?

Hi Tom,
We will be staying one night in Venice in December before boarding the ship and was able to book a room at Casanova of the Bauer Hotel (annex to Bauer Hotel) for $213 (taxes included). This includes full breakfast for 2. The website we used is Jetsetter. Good luck. Kim

We stayed at hotel Al Piave. It's about a 10 minute walk from St Marks Square. The room was very quiet, nicely decorated and spacious enough. There was a nice breakfast in the morning. We paid 140 euros per night.

We liked Casa Verardo Residenza d'Epoca, a Rick pick not too far from San Marcos- maybe 3 blocks and a couple bridges. Booked a moderate room with a canal view. Lovely breakfast room as well as a lovely patio for moderate weather. Elevator and AC.
