Venice hotel ( with air condition )

Hi, We will be in Venice this June. We were there 10 years ago in July for just 3 nights. I booked the trip with a local travel agent and I remenber I paid for an upgrade to an air conditioned room as it was so hot. The original room we were given felt like an oven.
This time, we would like to stay close to the canal (if our budget allows it).
I wonder if there are recommended accommodations .Thanks!

Hi Sally. We stayed at Locanda Orseolo which is highly rated on Trip Advisor. We were there in August & definitely needed & used the A/C which worked very well. The hotel is just behind St. Mark's Square (5 min walk to St. Mark's Square & 10 min walk to the Rialto bridge) and it's on the Orseolo canal. Many of the rooms have views of the canal and their prices were very reasonable especially considering the canal view. I originally booked a different hotel without a canal view for more than the rate at Locanda Orseolo and then changed to Locanda Orseolo and was glad I did. They are highly rated for good reason. Everything is top notch and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there as well as the views of the canal from our room. They even have a water landing and we took a private water taxi directly from the airport to the hotel which was convenient. They book fast so you'll need to inquire asap but if you can snag a room there, you won't be sorry. Have a great trip.

Ah...the good ol days of travel agents sending us blindly to destinations and hotels that they had little or no idea about because they'd probably never been there themselves. Thank heavens for the internet.

Palazzo sant' angelo sul grande canal is where we are staying in May with our Italian family. It is on the Grand Canal with a private wharf, includes breakfast, and is 4 stars. It was chosen by the family members who live in Udine/Trieste area-I believe it runs between 350 to 400 per night for a double room. It is quite luxurious but I'm going to Venice once in my lifetime and for one night only. The website is www.palazzpsantangelo.com. Everything in Venice is expensive! You can stay in a renovated monastery (think spartan) and that will be just under 200 per night. The website for the monastery is www.donorione-venezia.it. All prices are Euros, just don't have the symbol on my keyboard!

I love hotel Ala and stay there every summer for at least a week. Right at the Giglio vaparetto stop, across from Salute.

Wonderful place to stay!!!!!
