Venice Hotel Recommendations

Help- Majority of Rick's $$ Venice Hotels are booked.
We are traveling mid-September. Any suggestions for other hotels
that are within walking distance of main attractions?

I found myself in the same boat last spring for Florence and CT, so everyone suggested Bookings.com and it turned out to be terrific. It took some time to look over all the hotels, but the hotel we picked in Florence was not a Rick Steve's recommendation and we were very happy with the hotel and the location. I would take a look. They usually have two choices, one is a pay up front with a discount and the other you pay a little more and can cancel.

There are SO many to suggest and everyone has a favorite.

Look at Ca Bonvicini in the San Polo area and Hotel Bernardi in the Cannaregio area. They are both close to everything. Ca Bonvicini has great views over a quiet canal.

We stayed in the Florida right next to the train station and vaporetto stop -- if you're getting a vaporetto pass, anyplace in Venice is in walking distance. See venere.com or booking.com and look at reviews.

B&B Sandra

Corte Trapolin, Cannaregio 2452, (041 720957; [email protected]), doubles from €85

Her place is the top 2 stories of a 17th century house and is elegantly decorated. Her living room is filled with comfortable sofas and antiques. Also she has a traditional venetian wooden terrace and you can use to see the city's skyline.

Domus Orsoni

Calle dei Vedei, Cannaregio 1045, (041 2759538; www.domusorsoni.it, doubles from €100

Lucio Orsoni has transformed part of his glass making workshops into a stylish hotel. Guests can wander through the hotel gardens and visit the ateliers and furnaces; there are regular courses in making mosaics.

I'm leaving for Venice on Tuesday and will be staying at Hotel Antiche Figure near the train station. I stayed at a different hotel in that area on my first trip to Venice and loved it I really like getting to my hotel right away after traveling from the US and, as someone mentioned, it's pretty easy to get around Venice no matter where you stay.

Locanda Orseolo- top rated B&B on TripAdvisor. We stayed there & loved it. Prices are reasonable & includes a wonderful breakfast!

Booking.com allows you to specify your travel dates and look only at those places that are available. It's a huge time saver. That said, I would probably book directly with the hotel after I find availability through that site.
