Venice Hotel near Rialto Bridge

I'm renting an apartment in Venice (right near the Goldoni Theatre) and my sister-in-law and her husband want to go with us; but would like to stay in a hotel near us. Does anyone know any good hotels or B&B's in the Rialto area (in the $150-$200 range). Her husband has cancer, so something convenient for someone who can't walk excessive distances with luggage.

Have you tried emailing the landlord of the apartment you're renting and describe what you need? You might want to ask for a place that also has an elevator, given his mobility restrictions. Good luck.

We stayed in November at a Ricks recommendation at the Pensione Albergo Guerrato. It is just above the Riatlo market place. Not noisy. It is a short walk to the bridge. It is basic no TV in room but a decent continental breakfast. And great staff. It was 135 euro a night. Really good located and easy to find. When they say it is two street to the right from the vapetto they mean two lanes. So we went around in a circle but oh well it was fun.

I also recommend Pensionne Guerrato. I stayed there in June and had an amazing room overlooking the Rialto Market with a view of the Grand Canal. The rate was reasonable, the staff friendly and location near a vaparetto stop was excellent. They don't have an elevator, but this was just prior to my knee replacement and the one flight up to reception and then one flight up to my room was manageable. When they saw I had mobility issues, they grabbed my bag and carried it up the one flight from reception.

Pension Guerrato -- will always be my first choice-- one of the vaporetta lines stops by the market very close to the hotel -- no long walk over the crowded bridge with luggage. Contact me directly if you need details. TC

Another Pensione Guerrato rec. They also have an apartment if you are interested in that.

We've stayed at Guerrato twice and loved it, but you do have to go up some stairs as the hotel itself starts on the second or third floor and goes up from there. They don't have an elevator. The apartments are at the top of the building, about five floors up. Have you tried asking the people who you're renting your apartment from?

Antico Doge is at the base of the Rialto and very nice. It may be close to $200

Although I like the Antico Doge and it's location, it is not at the foot of the Rialto Bridge and it is on the opposite side of the Grand canal from the Goldoni. It is across a small canal from Compo Santi Apostoli.
