I will be arriving on a late flight (11:10PM) into Venice in early April. I will be traveling solo.
1) Should I stay in a hotel near the airport and then wait until morning before heading into Venice?
2) Or should I head to my hotel in Venice (not booked yet) and if so, what are my public transit options that late at night? And will most hotels accept that late of a check-in?
Looking for opinions, and lodging suggestions.

If you decided to stay near VCE the night you arrive, I've stayed at Agriturismo Ca' Beatrice, a five minute ride from the airport in Mestre (http://www.agriturismocabeatrice.it/) to catch early morning flights from VCE. It is a very nice facilitate and helpful staff. They have a shuttle that will pick you up at VCE. They have an excellent breakfast service, and the next morning they will take you to the local bus stop for the 20 minute ride into Venice arriving at Piazzale Roma where you can catch a vaporetto to the stop nearest your hotel.

Does anyone know how late public transportation runs? Is it possible to get into Venice that late? I will be arriving at Marco Polo at 11:10PM.
The Rick Steves Italy 2015 book says that the shuttle buses from the airport to Piazzale Roma run 2/hour until midnight, then it's 1/hour. Make sure your hotel accepts late arrivals. Lots of the smaller places don't, unless you make special arrangements.
I am surprised that Agriturismo Ca' Beatrice would be completely booked for next April already. Did you contact them directly?
