I have my Venice hotels down to 3. This forum has been great for helping me plan my trip. We would like to stay in the San Marco area. The 3 hotels are:
Hotel Ala (corrected)
Hotel Saturnia & International Venezia
Hotel Firenze
My priority is distance to sights and Vaporetto. And cleanliness. A decent breakfast is nice.
I had decided on Hotel Flora but I waited to long and the hotel is not available for my dates.
We will be staying 3 nights mid May. We will be arriving by train after visiting Florence. And flying to Paris after.
If that is Hotel ALA it gets my vote
Great place, wonderful bkft, perfectly located on quiet campo yet close to San Marco and only steps from SM Giglio vap stop ( no stairs or bridges)
Also has a nice little roof terrace
I’ve also stayed at Hotel Ala, although it’s been 20 years. Location is great, close to the vaporetto stop with no bridges to cross with your luggage. Close to St. Marks, but a quiet location.
After all of my research, I booked Hotel Ala for our upcoming stay in early June. Let us know what you choose and how you like it after the trip :)
Happy travels!
Of the ones you name I have only stayed at the Hotel Ala - the first time was after a Helpline (that's what the Forums used to be called) suggestion.
I've never looked back. The location is just great, but not in the main thoroughfare. The short walk down to the vaporetto stop is practically their private lane.
I loved hearing the (usually tuneful) gondola singers passing just by my window. Good food, so easy to walk everywhere including quite close to La Fenice.
