Any suggestions on safe, nice, and not insanely expensive hotel near this area in Venice? There will be 3 of us. Thx!
Dana, I stayed at the Serenissima Hotel in that area, with an RS Tour in 2013. Highly-rated, reasonably priced, great breakfast. It's a good bet if they have a room for you.
Don't limit yourself to just this area. Almost anywhere in one of the six sestiere of Venice is central enough for a good visit. I stayed in Dorsoduro, and was only a 10 minute walk from the Rialto; as an added bonus, the area right around my pension was quiet and relatively un-touristed.
Thank you. The first hotel mentioned is booked (I know I'm late). Any recommendations on the pension in the neighborhood you found nice?
Be aware that that area will be absolutely packed with people from 09 to 17 each and every day. If you don't like to elbow your way through crowds (I don't) then find somewhere east or north of Piazza San Marco.
My plan is to try Castello next time we are in Venezia.
