We will be in Venice for 4 nights. The first night with our 4 children-so we need accommodations for 6 for the first night only. The next 3 for only 2 people. Any suggestions?
When is the trip?
Generally, I would go with a B&B or small hotel like Ca’Angeli getting 3 rooms for one night and one room for 4 nights.
How old are the children? Young kids can’t be in their own hotel rooms alone so 3 rooms with only 2 adults wouldn’t work. Adult or older teen “children” take up more space so crowding into a 2bedroom airbnb would be tough.
Usually with 6 people an apartment is best but you only need it for one night. If you find a good one and it’s in budget then just keep it for all 4 nights. There’s no rule you have to use all the space, this would be the easiest - no moving! But that may be expensive, depending on the apartment.
If the kids are adults then getting 3 rooms for 1 night, then keeping 1 room the remaining 3 nights might be the most reasonable. But not necessarily. Do the math. I actually wouldn’t be surprised if a 3 bedroom Airbnb for 4 nights is cheaper than 3 hotel rooms for 1 night and 1 room for 4 nights.
Hypothetically let’s say you find rooms for $150. That’s $450 for thr first night, and $450 for 3 more nights. $900 total. $900/4 is 225. You can probably get a very nice Airbnb for that, depending on the bed arrangement. A 2 bedroom with a couple sleeper sofas could be ideal if it exists.
There are plenty of Airbnb places that have 1 or 2 bedrooms and additional sleeping areas, some in the living area and some with extra beds in the bedrooms. I booked a number of them for our trip to Italy since we are a family of 5 and needed extra sleeping space. I agree that an Airbnb will probably be cheaper than a hotel and more convenient as well.
