This may not be very helpful. We stayed at the Hotel Casanova a loooong time ago1983and what I remember about it was that the room was just so-so and it was very noisy from the pedestrian street traffic at night. They may have improved it by now (I hope!)

We stayed in the Hotel Al Piave for 3 nights back in September. We thought the place was fine. It was clean and the staff was really nice. The breakfast they had each day was good to get the day started. It was less than a 10 minute (probably more like 6-7) walk to either the St. Marks area or to the Rialto Bridge. If I was to ever go to Venice again, I would be happy to stay there again. Also, it was pretty warm when we were there, and the air conditioning in the room worked great.
