Has anyone toured a home in Venice? If so, please provide the details. Thanks!
Nigel, thanks for the information. I wasn't referring to a private home tour. My husband is interested in touring a home that is open to the public when we are in Venice.
Kimberlee I'm a little confused - do you mean find a private person and look inside his house? Or do you mean look around a Palazzo like Ca'd'Oro or Palazzo Grimani? The former may be difficult and non representative; the latter are easy as they do gallery shows and you can see many rooms, the warehouse, the watergates, etc. Ca'd'Oro also has a mosaic if I am not mistaken and is near gelato and cichetti.
Ca'Rezzonico is a former home turned museum and well worth seeing. It is also possible to attend an opera that is set in an old home. Hotels have info on this. We attended Barber of Seville in an old place with sloping floors. It was opera by candlelight and very enjoyable. You also could wander into the beautiful Hotel Daniela to view the opulent architecture.
Susan, I appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge! Thanks for the tips!
