Venice heavy rain strategy

I'll be in Venice starting Monday through Friday and Wednesday it looks like very heavy rain, an inch during the day and and possibly half an inch that night. We are down by San Marco but not on a canal. Should we try and travel Inland that day or just hunker down at a nearby museum for the day? I have an after-hours tour scheduled for that night but will cancel because I really don't want to walk in the pouring rain. Of course it could all change by then. But would like to hear other people's experiences when encountering a very heavy rainstorm during their visit.

The Italian weather website I use, meteo.it, shows a different prediction, with rain not beginning until Thursday. In my experience, precipitation predictions aren't very reliable, even the night before. I learned to carry a rain jacket and/or an umbrella in Venice earlier this month on days when clouds were predicted even if rain wasn't mentioned.

We had a very rainy May in 2023, 48 hrs of nonstop rain. We had been to Venice in the past and had done the major sites. We bought a cheap poncho from a street vendor, and also those rain roots that look like moon boots, about 5€ each, and they worked well.
We went to a delightful evening music concert-there are several options. In the past I thought such was too touristy, but the players were very talented and really played to the audience. It was quite enjoyable. We also went to Sciuola Grande di San Rocco to see the beautiful ceiling art. They give you mirror trays to view the ceiling. Both these activities were great and I would not have done them in fair weather.
Good luck!

Between the church itself and the museum, one can spend quite a lot of time in San Marco. Other meaty sights are the Accademia, Ca' Pesaro and the Guggenheim--all art museums.

We're definitely bringing rain jackets and we seem to only have 1 umbrella but can always get another. The Venice weather predictions from several sources vary quite a bit. I liked many of 5he suggestions. I did move my after hours tour of San Marco to Tuesday pm and a little earlier. I'll take a look at mateo.it. I've used weather Italy but it seems to constantly change. I also looked at Windy as well as the weather channel.

Also any referrals to a good shoe store in Venice?
