Venice for 2 days before a cruise

Looking for ideas of where to stay. Mid level pricing, private bath.
We want to see Venice, but would like to stay close to the cruise terminal for easy access with luggage.

Are you sure you are cruising from Venice and not Ravenna or Trieste?

Oh my gosh- you are right. I totally did not notice that it says Ravenna beside Venice. We’ve never traveled abroad and I had no idea how far away this is. Now I am not sure what to do. We had planned to do Venice for a couple days then go to the cruise. Suggestions

Check with your cruise line. They will probably offer a bus transfer from Venice the morning of your cruise. It is also possible to take the train but it is not direct.

Since you're planning a couple of extra days before the cruise, you can certainly spend time in Venice. I'll just mention, though, that Ravenna has a pretty historic core and many small churches/chapels with incredible Byzantine mosaics. I spent two full days there in 2022 and it wasn't quite long enough. (I do like mosaics a lot.) I don't know how far the cruise port is from the historic part of Ravenna, however.

The cruise port is about 15 km from the center of Ravenna. That being the case, as much as I love Venice, I'd stay in Ravenna. There is plenty to keep you busy for two days.

If you haven’t bought flights yet, perhaps stay in Venice for two or three nights, then get the train to Ravenna for two nights before the cruise.
You can get a taxi to the cruise terminal easily from the town of Ravenna, it’s not far.
You will then be rested for your cruise as well as seeing two great cities.

Just a head's up to check the ports for the rest of your itinerary. Some cities may be listed while the actual point of docking is over an hour away. It is okay, but you want to know this in advance.
