Venice for 1 night in November?

HI,
Traveling to Italy for the first time with husband and 16 yo daughter to visit daughter who is studying abroad in Florence. Deciding between 2 itineriaries: fly to Florence / 5 nights in Florence / 2 nights in Rome with a day trip to Tuscany from Florence or fly to Venice / 1 night Venice / 4 nights Florence / 2 nights Rome? Not sure we will be back so would love to at least see Venice highlights but also dont want the whole trip to feel super rushed. We do love the water but it will be November. Someone also suggested Venice as a day trip from Florence, not so sure about that. Have not made flight plans but assume we would get into whichever city by 1pm, though coming from east coast so I'm sure we will be tired.

Would love to hear your thoughts. Try to see as much as possible or see a bit less at a more relaxed pace???

Thanks in advance!

I think a minimum of 2 nights in Venice would be much better. But with only 7 days, I would suggest skipping it altogether and focusing on Florence and Rome. You can easily day trip to Siena or elsewhere in Tuscany from Florence.

I agree with the previous reply. One day is too short a time. November is the rainy season there as well.
Have a great time!!

Hadn't thought about the rain. My fear is trying to cram in too much. Thanks!

I hate to sound negative, but going to three places when you only have seven nights will, in my opinion, make your fear of trying to cram in too much become a reality. You will lose at least three quarters of a day each time you change locations. Strongly suggest you limit yourself to only two locations. Which two depends entirely on what you think the top two will be the most interesting for your group.

I'm now thinking 2 places as well. Florence needs to be one of them as that is where my daughter will be. Given the time of year, thinking we will opt for Rome. So much to see! Thanks all.

That being the case, fly into one city and back home from the other to avoid losing time backtracking.

My own choice would be for Florence and Venice leaving Rome for another time. I was lucky enough to take part in one of the last RS 7 Days in Venice tours in 2005. It was Thanksgiving week. It rained a bit, but not the whole time. There was a little snow, which I really enjoyed, and the chance to see the Dolomites in the distance. We had great fall Venetian cuisine - pumpkin raviolis. I had Venetian liver and onions for Thanksgiving dinner. I loved it!

November will be a time when Venice is less full of tourists - something I aim for whenever I return. Trust me, once you have experienced the crush of tourists in summer months, November will be like heaven with its mists, bit of snow, a little rain, the opportunity to stroll and get lost, visit a cafe or bar for cake or wine. Really nice.
