Two of my friends and I are going to be leaving on a small tour of Italy shortly, visiting Venice, Florence, and Vernazza. Does anyone have any experience with finding last-minute accommodations? As in, day-of-arrival? We're all college students, so I'm talking hostels maybe even the cheaper B&Bs. Thanks for your help!

I can only make a suggestion for two of the locations you mentioned. If you want a Hostel, the "offical" Cinque Terre Hostel is in Manarola. It's well run, but has a VERY strict lockout in the afternoon. Check www.hostel5terre.com/ for details and availability.
In Florence you might contact www.eng.hotelaldobrandini.it/template.php?pag=57902 to see if they have any vacancies. It's a budget Hotel rather than a Hostel, but at this point you'll have to try and get whatever you can.

In the Cinque Terre, for a last-minute option you can check with Mar Mar in Riomaggiore, so long as you arrive prior to 5 pm. They have private apartments and dorms available for rent, and they might have last-minute accommodations available.
Be careful, though... if you are travelling in July or especially August (and even more especially on a weekend), then you will be there at peak travel time and might have a very hard time finding last-minute accommodations.
