Venice, Florence, Rome - weather in March/April

Is anyone traveling to .Venice, Florence or Rome in March or April? I'm not sure how to pack for our 10 day trip beginning 3/27. The weather being reported currently shows is cool with quite a bit of rain and even some snow. I believe this is unseasonably wet and cool. Has anyone been there recently or planning to go soon? I wasn't planning on packing a heavy coat - just a rain coat and sweater. I'm wondering if this is enough..? Advise welcome!

You are traveling at a time when weather is quite unpredictable. Your best bet is to check the weather forecast a day or two before departure and modify your packing accordingly. I will tell you that we once hit Rome in mid-April and experienced a couple of days of very cold - - down to 32F - - temps. People told us the prior week had seen highs of 70.

I survived wintry weather last May in Prague with a thigh-length lined raincoat, over a wool cardi, over a long-sleeved knit top. I also had gloves (very important!). I regretted not having brought a large scarf that I own, which would have covered my head, as well as providing another layer around my neck and upper body. Scarves, hats, and gloves take up very little room in your baggage. If there's any chance of cold, they'll add immeasurably to your comfort.

Thanks Roselyn. Good advice. I plan on taking a scarf and will now add gloves. Thanks for your insight.
