Venice-Florence-Lake Como in May

Hello!
My husband and i are traveling to Italy for the first time in beginning of May this year. I have yet to book flights and hotels etc.. Hoping I could get some tips/advice from here
We will have 10 nights total after travel time in Italy
Thinking of flying into Milan and getting straight on train to Venice and staying 3 nights
Then take train to Florence and stay 3 nights
After that train to lake como for 3 nights and train to Milan for 1 night before we fly out early morning.
We like to go see a sight or two in the morning and then take a nice long lunch. Maybe do some shopping after and then relax by the pool or in a bar after before dinner. We like to be immersed in the culture of the place we are visiting and are not always interested in the most touristy spots. We like to stay in 4-5 star hotels. We have a very busy schedule at home and are looking to not go and have a crazy schedule on our holiday. Below is a list of my questions that i hope you can help me out with :)

  • with our tight schedule and the places i want to see should i cut one place out? If so which one?
  • did i allot too many nights in one place and not enough in another?
  • is my plan to fly in and out of Milan a right choice? I am ok with flying in and out of another airport but i need to do a round trip out of same airport.
  • any hotel recommendations would be great.
  • lastly, I’m Looking at booking the high speed train, is there a big difference between first class and executive. If so, which do you recommend?

Your trip would work better to fly into Venice and out from MIlan. If, for some reason you must do a r/t , then Milan is the one to use for your itinerary.

First class on the trains is unnecessary

Finding a hotel with a pool will be challenging in your chosen locations.

I like your itinerary and think you'll have enough time in each, though I might consider taking one night form Como for Florence. It depends on your interest in Renaissance art, sculpture and architecture. Milan is a very good choice for your plan.
I've always found the Frecciarossa trains to be very comfortable and have always traveled in the cheapest class. OTOH I've never arrived after a long-haul flight. Which bring me to another consideration . . . You have no assurance that your plane will arrive on schedule in Malpensa, that you won't have long lines at passport control or a long wait for your luggage. Then you have to take a train or bus from the airport to the Milan train station for the train to Venice. If you book in advance without enough leeway, you'll be out the price of the tickets and have to buy others on the spot, possibly only when you get to Milan. If you allow too much time, you'll be stuck hanging around the Milan train station for ages when you could be on your way to Venice. If you are concerned about saving money on the train tickets, consider going to Como first (cheap tickets, short train ride), then Venice and Florence.

My only advice for hotels is to stay in Venice itself, not in Mestre.
