Hi, I will be arriving in Florence mid/late afternoon from Venice on a Frday. I believe I should take train from Venice to SMN station, right? I am staying at an apartment in Santo Spirito. What would you advise as far as directions? I think cab/bus best for us, as we will have 2 bags each (I know, I know...). We are open to walking tho, it appears somewhat close. Specific questions would be: 1)Exit train at Santa Maria Novella or elsewhere? 2)Bus time, route? Bus stop location?
3)Cab fare, and direction they should take? (I've read on here about unscrupulous cabbies that take long routes, although I'm sure most are honest, just in case). 4) walking time, route- if walking advisable? Thanks!
Take a taxi. It's a 20 min walk. That's too long with bags. It's not going to be more than 15-20 euro. No easy bus options either. Still need to walk.
I've never had an unscrupulous cab driver in Italy. If he took the long way around, it turned out to be either to avoid traffic jams or because of one-way streets.
