Venice Film Festival

Any information on what we can expect, we just realize we will be in Venice on the third day of the festival. We don't know anything as far as what this means to the public...should we be excited or worried about crowds? I understand it will be held on Lido.

We were there four years ago in September when the film festival was taking place and had no problems. We did not venture out to Lido so I am not sure how busy that area would be. We also had crowds from the Regatta Storica that weekend, but did not have any trouble seeing what we wanted to see. Have a great trip!

We had the same exact experience as JenC. If you don't go to the Lido, you won't even notice. And yes, Venice is always that crowded in September.

You might get a chance to see some Hollywood star.

Is there a time when Venice is not crowded? Maybe at 3am on a winter night.

Roberto, we will be there mid week of the festival....if we went to Lido there might have a chance of seeing stars walking around?
It might be a fun thing to do yet I'm not one who would go crazy.....I just didn't really know what to expect, sounds like you can buy tickets to screenings.

Jo, if you went to Lido in the middle of the night, and looked up, you might have an even greater chance of seeing some stars! (:->)))

One fond memory I have from that visit to Venice was that one of the n'hoods had set up a huge outdoor cinema in one of the large piazzas, showing movies in Italian for the locals. You might stumble across that.

Mike,
Good idea, I think that must be the Piazza my husband came across, he was telling me about the big screen.
We have so much to look forward to on this 22 night trip, Venice is our first 3 night stop....what a way to start!
